A Very Happy Fathers Day

Yesterday was Father's Day. Brent actually thought it was last week, but that's another story. Emma wanted to make sure we made him heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast (because that is what they always do for me on Mother's Day). So we started off with pancakes. Then the kids gave him cards (Emma made both of them), and dad opened his gift--a watch. We actually also got him a Nintendo DS, but we opened that for him on the airplane so we could use it on the flight. We went to our ward for the first time today and it was great. The kids got right up with the primary to sing in sacrament for Father's day. the ward was amazing. Everyone was SO friendly. The bishop took us aside and told us he could really use our help in the Primary so we are going to get our records transfered even though we will only be here for a short time. Most of the fathers in the congregation wore leis. We were welcomed in Primary, Relief Society, and Young Women's with leis. Everyone starts their talks and lessons with a big ALOHA that is then echoed by the congregation. We all loved it. After church, we went to Waikiki beach. We watched Hawaiian dancers, listened to live bands, and watched the surfers. At sunset, they show a movie on a big screen set up on the beach. I told Emma the must have known she was coming because tonight they showed Enchanted. It was lots of fun...a very happy Father's Day.
